How to Perform Umrah Step by Step
Safrimahmood always strives to assist those who wish to perform Umrah. Many people are often anxious about how to perform Umrah and the steps involved in completing this sacred journey. Since there are various steps in the pious journey of Umrah, Safrimahmood offers multiple ways to guide pilgrims, such as through Orientation Programs, videos, and today, we are sharing a detailed guide on how to perform Umrah step by step. Below are the key steps to follow when performing Umrah:
STEP 01
Due to the absence of direct flights between Srinagar and Jeddah, Kashmiri Umrah pilgrims are required to wear Ihram at designated airports including Delhi, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, or Mumbai. Upon donning Ihram, pilgrims should intend to enter the Ihram state, separate from Umrah, and thus Umrah restrictions are not yet implemented.
STEP 02
While traveling from Designated airport, the Miqaat (Yalamlam/Taiff) is passed, and the airline, along with the Umrah guide, will announce it. At Miqat Yalamlam/Taiff make the intention of Umrah by saying:
Umrah Niyat: لَبَّيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ عُمْرَةً
Translation: O Allah, here I am to perform Umrah.
Then, recite the Talbiyah three times:
Dua: لَبَّيْكَ اللهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ – لَبَّيْكَ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَكَ لَبَّيْكَ – إِنَّ الْحَمْدَ وَالنِّعْمَةَ لَكَ وَالْمُلْكَ – لَا شَرِيْكَ لَكَ
Translation: At Your service, Allah, at Your service. You have no partner. Truly all praise, favor, and sovereignty are Yours. After this, you are in a state of Umrah until it is completed.
STEP 03
Tawaaf means circling the Kaaba seven times, starting and ending at the Black Stone (Al-Ḥajaru Al-Aswad). While doing Tawaaf, place Ihram under your right arm. Out of the seven circuits, three should be done in Rammal (walking fast).
STEP 04
After Tawaaf, cover your right arm with the Ihram and pray two rakats of namaz facing Maqam Ibrahim.
STEP 05
After praying, drink plenty of Zamzam water, preferably the regular, not cold, to avoid falling ill.
STEP 06
Sa’ee starts from Safa. You will walk between Safa and Marwa seven times, as mentioned by the signs there.
STEP 07
In the green area during Sa’ee, men must walk fast, while women walk normally. This process should be followed for all seven rounds.
STEP 08
The walk ends at Marwa. Now, the only step left is performing Halaq.
